DOUBLE STEREO BLOG
AUSTIN, TX – The Austin Music Office, a division of the Austin Convention & Visitors Bureau (Austin CVB), is partnering with DoubleStereo.com to launch a customized microsite within AustinTexas.org for visitors to search, listen to, and buy Austin music and a new line of official Live Music Capital of the World® merchandise.
The new Austin music and merchandise site goes live today Sept. 3 with a public launch party from 5-8 p.m. at Club DeVille (900 Red River Street). Hard Proof Afrobeat and Bus Stop Stallions provide live music, and guests can also enjoy food from Frank and merchandise by Southside Sanctuary. The party is part of the “First Friday Frolicks” series (formerly “From the Mind of Adi”) presented by Transmission Entertainment.
Just when I began to think the Arcade Fire had extinguished to a flicker–The Suburbs is dotted with hits but somewhat lacking when compared to Neon Bible in my humble opinion, they managed to create fireworks once more. Arcade Fire has certainly not lost their flair for the jaw drop. They have carved out their place in rock history by re-imagining the music video. The Wilderness Downtown “We Used to Wait” has taken modern technology and married it to the creative minds and music of Arcade Fire.
In Austin wherever you turn you can find awesome new musical talent. Home town favorites Vallejo have a solid track record of producing quality live performances and stellar music. Though these guys really know how to rock it’s difficult to label them with but one genre–they flirt with reggae in, “Temporary Thing” but manage to lace in the fuzzy, growling rock guitar that is signature Vallejo. They stay true to their world music roots with classic Latino rhythms but infuse every song with enough rock grit to put Vallejo in a category all their own.
As if you really needed another reason to come out and frolic with us this Friday, Double Stereo and the Austin Convention and Visitor’s Bureau are proud to celebrate the launch of Austin Music office’s music micro site powered by Double Stereo. Our staff will be on site to show local artists and music enthusiasts alike what our site and our partnership will have to offer. We are also there to boogie down–it is a party after all! Local funk masters Hard Proof Afro Beat will be jamming their internationally inspired, locally produced, jazz infused, world beats for all to enjoy. If you are a sucker for big brass and reedy sax over African drums and classic funk grooves you’ll appreciate this bunch of home town boys.
