/posts/Music as medicine: Docs use tunes as treatment

MSNBC - Researchers explore how melodies can help regulate heart, boost hormones

As Victor Fabry napped in his hospital bed, a quiet symphony filled his room. The steady pulse of a cardiac monitor marked the progress of his mending heart. Over that beat, the swaying strains of a Brazilian guitarist pumped nearly nonstop from a CD player on the shelf.

/posts/Kanye West takes on Twitter in web rant

From Times Online -

Kanye West is hardly known for his mild manner, but he has matched even his most famous tantrums after civilians dared launch Twitter accounts in his name.

The hip-hop star turned vocoder vocalist hit the caps lock and posted a rant on his website, pointing out that he was far too busy “being creative” to use Twitter and that the micro-blogging site should never have let anyone “tweet” using his name.

/posts/MGMT Vs The French Government In A Battle For Royalties

The Tripwire - The French government has a reputation for their strong anti-piracy stance in regards to illegal downloading of music and movies via the internet, but it looks like the government has gotten itself into a small mess of hypocritical trouble for using MGMT’s song, “Kids” without permission. French President Nicolas Sarkozy is guilty of using “Kids” at two meetings and on the internet without the permission of the American band.

/posts/Crystal Antlers rolls with the punches

The L.A. Times music blog - The band's 'Tentacles' album has arrived, but its label, Touch and Go, has problems. Fortunately, the Long Beach band is self-sufficient.

Long Beach-based Crystal Antlers has, since its inception in 2006, stuck to the do-it-yourself model that punk bands honed in the 1980s. The sextet -- singer and bassist Jonny Bell, guitarists Errol Davis and Andrew King, organist Victor Rodriguez-Guerrero, drummer Kevin Stuart and multi-instrumentalist Damian Edwards (an L.A. cult hero known as "Sexual Chocolate") -- made its own CD packaging, screen-printed its own T-shirts and toured the country constantly.
