QUICK BIO

The members of Sister City met one another under banal circumstances about which you, the humble reader, probably don’t care. You, the humble reader with whom the aforementioned members of Sister City are attempting to ingratiate themselves, definitely don’t want to have to sift through wordy sentences and flowery language. This will be straight and to the point:

Sister City, of Rockville, Maryland, plays lyrically focused indie rock interspersed with punk elements. Singer/songwriter and guitarist Adam Linder, drummer Daniel Abzug, and bassist Garrett Delaney combine influences from Brand New to Bright Eyes and from Cursive to the Counting Crows to create their original sound, as showcased on their already established discography. A current music production major at Clark University, Linder also produced Sister City’s three 2008 releases.

Under Linder’s name, the group released its first full length, Burning Up, for free online to public torrent trackers in January 2008 and pressed in April. In addition to international sales of hard copies, the CDs has garnered over 2,500 downloads to date, helped in large part by the inclusion of lead single “Sunday Crossword Challenge” on the internet compilation The What CD, which has been downloaded over 20,000 times.

Over the summer of 2008, the band decided to call itself Sister City and set to work on its first EP under that name. Sister City released Foma in August at a show at The Ottobar in Baltimore. Also available for free, Foma has been downloaded over 2,300 times. In November 2008, Linder had the opportunity to work with the acclaimed QX String Quartet and composed parts for the three songs that would become The Clark EP, released in mid-December.

As summer 2009 approaches, Sister City looks forward to playing as many shows as it can and recording its second full length album. In June, Sister City will share the stage with Woodbine Hotline, The Lost Tourists, and others at a benefit concert hosted by The Boles Foundation, which in past years has featured bands such as The Matches and The Hint. Sister City currently is in the process of booking shows up and down the East Coast and is excited to come to a city near you!
