New Album by Texas Tornados: Esta Bueno!

Now I’m not sure about other parts of the country, but here in Texas there isn’t a person alive that doesn’t chant along to the chorus of “Hey Baby Que Paso” when they hear it. Second only to maybe the state song itself, the Texas Tornados classic  is arguably the most popular song in Texas history. With the passing of the great Freddy Fender and Doug Sahm, I figured they were just that at this point…Texas history. Thank goodness I was wrong about that.

The music icons are back together again, with as close of an original line up as they could put together. Filling in his for his father, Shaun Sahm has joined Flaco Jimenz and Auggie Meyers to put out their new release due out on March 2nd, Esta Bueno!. That’s an understatement amigos.

Album Review: One Foot In The Ether by The Band Of Heathens

After three albums and an Austin Music Award, The Band of Heathens are finally set to release their second studio release this week. Their new album, One Foot In The Ether, will not only win them more awards but also more fans. Even though you’ll probably find it in the “country” or “Americana” sections of most record stores, it also belongs in music collections of Black Crowes fans, John Mellencamp fans and even Eagles fans. Reason being, there is so many more musical elements in place on One Foot In The Ether; roots rock, gospel, soul, blues, and southern rock even. They are just too talented and musically diverse to be put in a box.

Album Review: Follow by Johnny Cooper

Texas native Johnny Cooper is not setting going to set the world on fire with his music by any means, but he is a breath of fresh air in a genre crowded with fluff. Copper’s blues meets country sound is country enough to win over country music lovers, while being just pop enough to sneak into some mainstream audience’s music collections. He could be the next big thing both regionally and nationally.
