Friday night The Dodos play Stubb’s with The New Pornographers

It’s summer time and the living’s easy so it only seems natural that this Friday indie rock darlings The New Pornographers will be taking the stage at Waller Creek amphitheater to delight the crowd with their baroque yet mellow anthems. What’s more is that they have been touring this summer with fellow mellow folk rockers The Dodos. You’ll want to get to Stubb’s early because you won’t want to miss The Dodos’ Meric Long and Logan Kroeber do their thing along side new member and vibraphonist Keaton Snyder.

Double Stereo Does Bonnaroo

What’s in a name? With Bonnaroo music festival the names says it all. Bonnaroo is a Cajun term meaning “a very good time”. If you are fortunate enough to be headed to Manchester Farm for this year’s festivities a good time is exactly what you will be in for, plus some. This year’s line-up is studded with indie darlings for the genuine, music loving community that Bonnaroo manifests each year and boast big names for nostalgia. As if southern summers weren’t scorching hot enough Dave Matthews Band, Jay-Z, Weezer, and Kings of Leon headline–setting the main stages a blaze for the droves of music fans headed to Tennessee this weekend.

Southern California alternative/post-punk quintet Funeral Party is one of our new favorite bands. They’re so new they don’t have an album yet, but that hasn’t stopped the buzz from building. Their reputation for explosive, play-like-there’s-no-tomorrow live shows has earned the young band opening slots on national tours for the likes of Trail of Dead and Julian Casablancas, as well as recording time in The Mars Volta’s studio.
