/tags/Concert Review: Smile Smile at Emo's

Thursday night at Emo’s, in the midst of all the Red River history performing that night, was a quiet young indie duo no one seemed to recognize. Dallas, Texas’s Smile Smile was the indie pop break between a line-up of power pop heavy hitters like Cruiserweight, The Riddlin’ Kids and their touring mates, Bowling for Soup. It was all an interesting experience to say the least. (photo by Sarah Vasquez)

Fall Out Boy has had quite the influence on today’s young pop-punk acts. So many bands have been birthed under the Fallout Boy pop punk genre that it gets difficult to weed through them all to get to the good ones. Now more young bands are taking that pop punk sound to new heights with a newly dubbed genre, “pop crunk”. One of the new bands to make that a household genre and pioneer that movement is going to be Let’s Get It. Their new EP, Digital Spaces, is a small sampling of this hybrid genre.

I spoke with Adam about Warped Tour, the acoustic tour with William and even about playing in Latin America for the first time.

/tags/Don't "Comparamore" Versaemerge

Fueled By Ramen artist and Port St Lucie natives, Versaemerge, are taking the music scene by storm. This female fronted, five piece rock band may draw comparisons to their label mates, but they truly are in a class of their own. Having a female lead singer is where the comparisons should stop. Their sound is theatrical, emotional, soulful and at times... epic. What is surprising is the band's stock is quickly rising with only an EP on Fueled By Ramen. I got a chance to sit down with the members of Versaemerge and chat with them about generational differences, being a female fronted band, and about being "comparamored".
