If you haven't seen it yet, Spin magazine has put out their list of the best albums in 2009. While I personally disagree with their number one spot, they hit on some great albums throughout the list. Honorable mentions include Gallows, Them Crooked Vultures, Dirty projectors and The Big Pink. There are even a few albums that I've started listening to since their list published. From Times Online - Kanye West is hardly known for his mild manner, but he has matched even his most famous tantrums after civilians dared launch Twitter accounts in his name.
The hip-hop star turned vocoder vocalist hit the caps lock and posted a rant on his website, pointing out that he was far too busy “being creative” to use Twitter and that the micro-blogging site should never have let anyone “tweet” using his name.
I hate to admit this to the world, but I find most hip hop to be stale and cookie cutter these days. Everyone seems to be using the same producers and the art of story telling has gone the wayside. In the large field of copy cat rappers and whack MCs, only a few can catch and hold my attention. Last year I fell in love with the sounds of 88 Keys and The Cool Kids. This year I think Canadian MC, Shad is taking over. His new album, The Old Prince, helped me rediscover what I love so much about hip hop.
Eminem's been away, and clearly his time off was spent watching reality TV, visiting blogs and reading tabloids. His new video, "We Made You," opens with the rapper dressed as Bret Michaels from Rock Of Love.
