The Johns are part roots rock, part southern rock and a little alt. country. Insightful lyrics, delivered with a whiskey drawl , backed by a gritty southern twang. Although a rock band. you cannot help but notice a shot of country . Influences include the Rolling Stones, Uncle Tupelo, Whiskeytown, Wilco, Drive-by-Truckers, Tragically Hip, Crazy Horse and the Replacements. The Johns recent release is a 6-song E.P.called "9-volt graveyard." Residing in Austin, TX, the four piece consists of vocalist Mike McAnally, guitarist James White, bassist Roy Chapman and drummer Dennis Carter.
