VALLEJO RELEASES NEW ALBUM “THICKER THAN WATER”
Texas Latin rockers, Vallejo have finally released their long awaited new album, Thicker Than Water (Quadra Entertainment Group) which hit stores on February 26, 2008. Formed in the 90’s by the three Vallejo brothers, (twins AJ & Alejandro and younger brother, Omar) the road to success has been a long and tumultuous journey that has only seemed to make the band stronger and more experienced.
The album’s title comes from the Vallejo brother’s long-winded path through the pitfalls of the music industry that include being on two major labels, TVT & Epic, eventually leading to
financial bankruptcy and messy contractual litigations that dragged on for four years almost
ending the band's career. “If it weren't for us being brothers and sticking it out, this band would have easily been done a long time ago.” comments A.J. Vallejo “But we knew if we just hung in there and stuck it out, that the pay off in the end would be worth it.”
And it has. In the process the brothers created their own production label with veteran music
partner, Randy Willis (Quadra Entertainment Group), and recorded over 40 songs while
everything worked itself out. The result is a 13-song emancipated return that features Vallejo's signature sound of swaggering rock laced with Latin rhythms and soulful vocals with a few new twists thrown in. The first single from Thicker Than Water is the Latin-flavored rocker, "Move On", which has gone out to Specialty rock radio and is already charting in its first week.
Guests on the album include Zayra Alvarez (CBS's Rockstar Supernova), Austin favorites Del Castillo and the award winning Grooveline Horns (Jason Mraz, Kelly Clarkson) who are featured on the Tijuana-Brass-inspired instrumental “Sonata Del Toro”. From the hopeful lyrics of the opening title track to the closing Spanish duet “Tu Corazon”, Vallejo’s new album proves once and for all that “blood is thicker than water”.
