QUICK BIO

The Panes are a San Francisco Bay Area band whose psychedelicized power-pop recreates the excitement and originality of the great pop sounds of the 60s, 70s and 80s. Songwriter Matt Granz draws on influences as diverse as the Byrds and the Sex Pistols to create songs that are clever, fun and danceable. The band was originally formed in 2002 as an alternative to the shoe-gazing emo bands proliferating the region. Subsequent personnel changes crystallized the band into a crack 4-piece unit of seasoned musicians with varied backgrounds.

They are:

Matt Granz:
Head Songwriter, Guitar, Vocals and iron-fisted supervision. Matt is a multi-instrumentalist whose previous credits include guitar, bass, harpsichord and tipple in the Old Joe Clarks, Guitar in Bolshoi Rodeo, and Bass in the Living Rooms.

RD Maynard:
Bass and sullenness. RDs checkered past includes stints with LAs Modern Warfare, Orange County rockabilly legends, the Rockaholics, and SF hard rockers the Gone Jackals. He also has spent countless hours in smoky dives from Tijuana to Nashville laying down the bottom for a variety of blues, roots-rock and country outfits.

Ross Inden:
Drums and earplugs. Another musician with multiple talents, Ross played bass for LAs Leopards and Viva Saturn. His drum credits include SFs the Gentlekin.

Marc Mowrey:
Keyboards and Humor. MarcÂ's talents also have him playing turn of the century Barrelhouse style Piano in the city every month & also finds him in the band Mocadelic based out of San Rafael.
